Stronghold at the Table: Help Us Set 250 Thanksgiving Tables for Military Families
This year, more than 500 military families asked for a seat at the Thanksgiving table.
Stronghold at the Table is our annual Thanksgiving program, bringing Thanksgiving meals for military families who are currently serving. Applications opened October 1. By October 19, more than 500 families had applied. As a volunteer-powered, grassroots organization, we made the difficult decision to close applications early so we could focus on the families who had applied and give each the time, attention, and care they deserved.
Now we're asking you to help set those tables. Our goal is to raise $75 per family and to serve a minimum of 250 families before Thanksgiving.
Why Thanksgiving is harder for military families
One in four active-duty military families faces food and nutrition insecurity. The holidays don't make that any easier.
For many military families, Thanksgiving looks different. One parent may be deployed. A recent PCS move may have put the family a long way from the people they'd normally gather with. And the end of the year can stretch a budget that was already tight. Many of these families never expected to need help, and asking for it isn't easy.
That's why every application receives the same answer it would any other week of the year: no judgment; just compassion and understanding.
A table set for a family
At Stronghold, we don't pack a box and hope it fits. We have a conversation first, then shop with intention, the same way you'd shop for your own family. Stronghold at the Table brings that same care to Thanksgiving: a complete meal, set for a family's table, delivered with dignity, warmth, and care.
Ambassadors have already started delivering across the nation to military families in 21 states.Others are making arrangements now. Fort Leavenworth deliveries will take place on November 19th and 20th ... after Monica gets pied in the face. More on that later 😉
What your gift sets on the table
Every gift goes straight to a military family's Thanksgiving:
$10 passes a pie around the table
$25 puts a turkey on the table
$75 sets one family's whole Thanksgiving table
$150 sets two families' tables
$300 sets four families' tables
Over 97 cents of every dollar goes directly to families.
Every family, a full table
Military families give up a lot of holidays to serve. This November, Military Family Month, we want 250 (or more) of them to sit down to a full table, knowing their community showed up for them.
