Stronghold receives Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation

For the past three years, the partners at our local Starbucks Military Family Store in Kansas have continued to show up for Stronghold Food Pantry and the military families we serve.

Most recently, that partnership brought our community together for a coffee tasting filled with familiar faces from across the military community — active-duty service members, spouses, veterans, retirees and National Guard families.

The gathering became even more meaningful when our Starbucks partners shared some unexpected news.

During the event, they announced that Stronghold had been selected to receive a Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation.

About The Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grant program

The Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grants program launched in 2019 and has since funded thousands of grassroots nonprofit organizations across North America. The program is nomination-based, meaning Stronghold could not apply for the grant or nominate itself. Instead, Starbucks partners (employees) nominate local nonprofit organizations they believe are making a meaningful difference in the places they live and work.

The employees at Starbucks Store 61392 came together to nominate Stronghold and show their support for our mission and the military families we have the privilege to serve.

This year, Starbucks partners across the United States and Canada submitted more than 43,000 nominations, with more than 2,700 organizations selected to receive Neighborhood Grants. Stronghold is honored to be one of them.

Supporting military families through community partnerships

The grant will directly support our work to provide healthy, fresh groceries and essential resources to military and National Guard families facing food insecurity. It will also help us continue creating something we believe is just as important: a community where military families feel supported, valued, and never alone.

At Stronghold, we know this work cannot be done by one organization alone. Our mission is made possible by donors, volunteers, Ambassadors, partners, and neighbors who choose to stand alongside military families.

Our relationship with Starbucks is an example of what that support can look like.

For three years, their employees have done more than serve coffee. They have created opportunities for connection, welcomed our military community, and continued finding ways to stand behind Stronghold’s mission.
