Stronghold Food Pantry Receives Wounded Warrior Project® Grant Support for Military Families
Stronghold Food Pantry has received Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) grant support to deliver fresh groceries for military families facing food and nutrition insecurity. The news lands as Military Family Month begins, and it means more families will hear the words we love to say: this week, groceries are covered.
One in four active-duty military families faces food insecurity. These are families serving right now, at installations across the country. Many never expected to need help.
How Stronghold delivers fresh groceries for military families
Every family we serve starts with a conversation. We learn what the household needs, from allergies and religious dietary restrictions to what the kids will actually eat. Then we deliver a full week of fresh groceries: 21 meals per family member, scaled to household size.
Families reach us through our pantry at Fort Leavenworth, the nationwide Stronghold Ambassador Program, and Pop-Up Pantries at installations across the country. Together, those paths have reached families at 72 installations in 26 states. Every path is free and confidential.

Our WWP ® grant partnership
No single organization can meet every need facing service members, veterans, families, and caregivers. These challenges overlap, and difficulty finding support can compound stress on sleep, mental health, and financial stability. Partnerships help close those gaps.
Our grant partnership with WWP builds on a relationship that began in a hard season. During the 2025 government shutdown, WWP grant support helped Stronghold provide more than 52,000 meals to 2,500 military families across 40 locations.
"A service member's, veteran's, or caregiver's challenges don't arrive one at a time, and the solutions shouldn't either," said Ashley Bunce, WWP's director of Community Partnerships and Investments. "That's why our partnership with Stronghold Food Pantry is about more than supporting an individual program. It's about connecting expertise, closing gaps in care, and strengthening an ecosystem where warriors and their families can find the right support throughout their lives."
More conversations, more installations, more families
"Every family we serve starts with a conversation," said Monica Bassett, founder of Stronghold Food Pantry. "We learn their names, their kids' allergies, and what they're capable of cooking. Grant support from WWP means more of those conversations, at more installations, for more families who serve."
Military families give so much to this country. Partnerships like this one make sure more of them have a full week of fresh food on the table, chosen just for them.
This Military Family Month, stand with the families who serve.
